This page is the OntarioPoker editorial team's month-by-month record of Ontario's ring-fenced peer-to-peer poker vertical. Each row reflects the handle and revenue figures published by iGaming Ontario in its monthly market performance report, which typically lands three to four weeks after the reporting month closes. We also record active player accounts, market share, and any material regulatory or operator event that shaped the month.

Ontario is the only Canadian province publishing this level of monthly detail, which makes the tracker a stable benchmark for measuring the Canadian regulated online poker market as a whole.

Three Storylines Shaping Ontario Poker in 2026

1. March 2026 all-time record, then a sharp post-record correction

Poker in Ontario hit its all-time monthly ceiling in March 2026: CA$183 million in handle and CA$6.9 million in operator revenue, per the iGO monthly report released on April 29. The record was driven by a normal seasonal pattern combined with tax-season liquidity and the run-up to the WSOP schedule announcement. The correction that followed was sharper than analysts expected: April poker handle fell 30 per cent month-over-month to CA$128 million, and revenue dropped 24 per cent to CA$5.3 million, the steepest single-month decline of any product vertical in the Ontario market for the month.

2. PokerStars-to-FanDuel migration completed May 7, 2026

Flutter Entertainment closed PokerStars Ontario as a stand-alone product on May 7, 2026 and relaunched it as PokerStars on FanDuel in the same window, migrating every former Ontario player to a fresh FanDuel-hosted account. The transition caused expected re-verification friction. May poker figures nonetheless posted a modest rebound to CA$134 million in handle and CA$5.4 million in revenue, suggesting the migration lost fewer players than the worst-case scenario contemplated by market observers. June's decline to CA$126 million and CA$5.2 million tracks more closely with WSOP Vegas summer pull and normal recreational-player seasonality than with residual migration friction.

3. The GGPoker Ontario / WSOP Super Circuit pipeline lifts August-September

GGPoker Ontario has been running province-only satellite ladders into the WSOP Super Circuit Canada Main Event since June 14. Peer-to-peer satellite volume is not disclosed at the tournament-level in the iGO monthly report, but three effects on the aggregate figures are expected in the July, August and September months: increased peer-to-peer poker handle from satellite entries, incrementally higher revenue as rake scales with buy-in volume, and a lift in active player accounts as recreational players open GGPoker Ontario accounts specifically for the qualifier campaign. The WSOP Super Circuit Canada festival opens Wednesday, August 26 at Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake and closes September 12.

Fiscal Year Context

Ontario's iGaming fiscal year runs April 1 to March 31. For fiscal 2025-26 (April 2025 to March 2026), operators produced more than CA$4.2 billion in total gaming revenue on more than CA$103 billion in wagers, per iGaming Ontario's unaudited figures published on May 21, 2026. Peer-to-peer poker produced approximately CA$66 million in that fiscal year, roughly 1.6 per cent of the total. The audited financial statements for fiscal 2024-25, published in April 2025, recorded CA$2.9 billion in gaming revenue from CA$82.7 billion in wagers, with poker at CA$59 million (2 per cent share).

Calendar-year 2025 posted CA$4.04 billion in NAGGR on roughly CA$100 billion in cash wagers. Poker's calendar-year-2025 share sat at approximately CA$68 million, with December 2025 the strongest single month at CA$5.8 million.

Why Poker Is a Small Share of the Ontario Market

Ontario peer-to-peer poker is capped by its ring-fenced liquidity structure: players in the province can only match with other players in the province. The result is a materially smaller pool than the global dot-com market, and it caps the size of headline tournaments (the WSOP Online 2026 Ontario Main Event, for example, guarantees CA$500,000, while the equivalent international event on GGPoker.com guarantees US$25 million).

Ontario has filed an application to join shared-liquidity discussions with Alberta and the Supreme Court of Canada docket on cross-border iGaming remains unscheduled. Any expansion of Ontario's ring-fenced pool would materially change the poker line in this tracker.

Data Sources and Methodology

Primary source is iGaming Ontario's monthly market performance report, which is published on a rolling three-to-four-week delay after each reporting month closes. iGO figures are unaudited, denominated in Canadian dollars, and cover cash wagers only (promotional wagers are excluded).

Cross-checks against Flutter and Entain quarterly disclosures, PokerScout weekly liquidity snapshots, and the rg.org Ontario dashboard are used to catch inconsistencies. Update Cadence

This tracker is refreshed at minimum on the first business day of each month following publication of the previous month's iGO data. We also refresh it whenever a major operator or regulatory event materially changes the baseline: the July 2025 PokerStars-Ontario-to-FanDuel migration announcement, the January 2026 FanDuel AGCO penalty, and the May 2026 shutdown-and-relaunch each triggered interim updates.
